I paid for that billboard.

I’m the director of BTCCuracao.com

This ad has been hugely successful at creating awareness and a conversation. The simple fact displayed above is something everyone needs to know about Bitcoin.

It’s the HODLer message of deflation instead of inflation. Inspired by the shopping cart meme.

First you save, then you spend. We teach both.

70+ businesses in Curacao accept Bitcoin payments. One day you will be able to live off Bitcoin in Curacao, that’s a goal we have.

The Bitcoin community in Curacao is strong.

I’m from Curaçao, and am well familiar with the people behind btccuracao.com, their only motivation is to promote and educate on the subject of Bitcoin (in the past other cryptocurrencies as well, again purely information). They promote merchant adoption, and spending of Bitcoin. Since our economy is mostly centered around Tourism accepting Bitcoin can be very interesting for some tourists and merchants tailoring to them.

Check out their website where you will find all merchants that accept Bitcoin. We also have a supermarket chain that accepts bitcoin (and lightning!) payments, in part thanks to the work of BTCCuracao.

I agree that the messaging should have been done otherwise (less focus on pricing/trading, more on the principals). But they do not run an exchange or trading platform, or sell any products or services (themselves) for that matter.
